Grades 1 & Up - Give Your Child a Gift for Life – "THE ARTS!"

Our Summer Day Camp includes many different components that are fun and exciting for your child to experience. While each camper learns about different art genres, they also enjoy indoor and outdoor recreational activities that are fun and exciting. Along with arts and recreational activities, campers will have several exciting trips and educational experiences. Our campers explore, learn, collaborate with one another, develop projects, and get new insights on a regular basis. So let your child put down the tablet, cell phone, and video games and be a part of a 6-to-9-week journey that will open new vistas of thinking, learning, experience, and opportunity!

EVERY CHILD DESERVES ART!

Camp Components:

  • Music Theory – Children learn how to read music and musical symbols, are taught about famous composers and are exposed to various musical instruments. As their skills advance, each is engaged with our computer music lab that provides an interactive music program software. The computer music lab identifies the growth and advancement of each student. This component focuses on working with time signatures and rhythm, so math, especially fractions, is taught alongside music.
  • Piano Instruction – Each child receives beginner piano instruction. Musical scales and drills are used to help each student develop to the point of opening a beginner book and playing on one's own. Each week the lesson builds upon the previous, and by the 7th lesson students are given songs to learn and develop for an arts program recital.
  • Poetry & Inspiration – Students learn to understand poetry by reading and discussing types of poems and inspirational quotes. They begin to write their own poems and quotes and are challenged to memorize and recite them in a public setting. This component also focuses on improving reading and writing skills and increasing a student's vocabulary.
  • Painting on Canvas – Students learn about the history of art and artists. They learn to draw, sketch, mix colors, and prepare their canvases. They are taught which paint brush to use for specific paints and canvases. The students paint a few works of art during the season.
  • Recreation & Games Period – A dedicated time for physical activity and fun, where students engage in a variety of recreational games that encourage teamwork, coordination, and active participation. This period helps campers develop social skills while enjoying outdoor and indoor play.
  • Guest Artist Presentations – Professional artists from various disciplines visit the camp to share their experiences, demonstrate their craft, and inspire students. This allows campers to see firsthand the possibilities of pursuing creative passions.
  • Inspirational Movies and Videos - Students watch motivational films and documentaries that highlight perseverance, creativity, and personal growth. These sessions provide valuable life lessons and encourage critical thinking discussions.
  • Audio Video Production Project - Campers work together to create their own audio and video productions, learning about scriptwriting, filming, editing, and audio recording. This hands-on project fosters teamwork and creativity while teaching technical skills.
  • Campers Book Publishing Project - Each student participates in writing and illustrating a collaborative book. They learn about storytelling, editing, and the publishing process, with the final product being a tangible book that showcases their collective creativity.
  • Dance & Movement - Students explore various dance styles and movement exercises that enhance coordination, expression, and physical fitness. This component encourages creativity through motion and culminates in a final performance.
  • End-of-Program Recital - A special event where parents and guests get to see exactly what the campers have learned throughout the program. Students showcase their talents in music, dance, poetry, and visual arts.
